Planning Our First Family Vacation

Posted by Jenalyn at 7:22 PM 0 comments
So it is official we are going away in November.  At first I wasn't sure we were going to be able to pull it off but the husband has been working some extra shifts and seems like everything is falling into place.  Very excting out first family vacation since the baby was about a month old.  Novemeber 10th is our two year anniversary and November 9th is Manny's 27th birthday and he has the whole week off from work.  We are packing up and taking off to Conneticut for the week for some piece and quiet and some much needed alone time with our little munchkin.  We are going to visit a Children's Museum (http://www.steppingstonesmuseum.org/) and the Conneticut Maritime Aquarium (http://www.maritimeaquarium.org/) because Lord knows David loves the fishies.  There will be more information to come as soon as I finish mapping it all out but I am very excited and we are definately looking forward to this.

And it is Almost Monday...Again!!!

Lately it seems like the days are just flying by and I am not even sure where the time goes.  Everyday just seems so routine and then before I know it is Wednesday and Manny is home for two days and then back to reality again.  Tomorrow starts the third week of the fall session of swimming lessons and I am hoping David does better than he has been.  It seems like because he is in the water with all little babies (6 to 12 months) he is acting like them and appears to be afraid of the water and almost hates the entire half an hour.  Im hoping this week is different and that the pool is a little bit warmer.  Unfortunately I am starting the week with what is seeming to be a sinus infection and no over the counter medicine is helping...and this headache is almost unbearable.  I am hoping the baby sleeps well tonight which he should because he was quite tired and I can actually get some rest and feel better.  Good night All and Sweet dreams =)

Sick, Sick, Sick of Being Sick

Posted by Jenalyn at 8:40 PM 0 comments
I am not sure if it is allergies or a cold but something is kicking my butt and seriously hard.  I've tried everything from tylenol cold to tylenol sinus, to tylenol allergy, and even benadryl and nothing is helping.  Im thinking if I could just sleep for about a week without having to do anything else except for maybe go to the bathroom I would feel better but unfortunately that isnt going to happen anytime soon since the husband is working a lot of hours and my little love bug requires a lot of his mother's attention.  Well I am off to bed and hopefully I will feel a bit better tomorrow if not atleast I am use to a stuffy nose, sore throat, and a headache.

Im Back...Finally!!!

Posted by Jenalyn at 9:47 PM 0 comments
Well it has been almost a whole week since I have been able to log into my blog.  I am not exactly sure why but I am pretty sure it has something to do with the fact that I some how managed to download a virus onto the computer...Yes I am a complete idiot.  However I am not that much of an idiot because I was able to get rid of the virus (I hope...hahaha) and can now continue to update my blog regularly.  It feels good to be back and I am sure if I look inside my head I must have tons to write since it has been so long.

Screw the Insurance Company

Posted by Jenalyn at 8:05 PM 0 comments
In March Manny was in a car accident coming home from work.  Because there was about seven inches of snow on the ground of a state highway mind you, he lost control of the car (a four wheel drive vehicle at that) and crossed onto the other side of the highway and was t-boned by another SUV.  He was found unconscious at the scene and rushed to Rhode Island Hospital into critical care.  I received a call from his work stating that he had been in a car accident and they "didnt know any details but thought he would be ok".  I can honestly say that, so far, in 24 years that is the worst and scariest phone call I could have ever recieved.  I lost it and broke down and begged my father to make it ok and told him he had to take me to Manny.  We arrived at the hospital within the hour not knowing what to expect.  I was horrified when I walked into that room and saw him laying there like a dead body on a metal slat in a morgue.  I ran over to him and he opened his eyes, saw that it was me, and one single tear fell down his cheek...I think that was the point that he realized that he was ok and I was there to take care of him.  I have never been so relieved in my life.  To make a long story short he was released from the hospital with minor injuries and the car was demolished.  Well it is six months later and we went to the hearing on Thursday for the insurance sur-charge appeal and we left there with a woman telling us "it is your responsibility to adjust your vehicles speed to the needs of the road" and we would have an answer in one to two weeks.  Talk about a woman on a power trip...what makes her the one to determine the fate of our insurance bill when she wasnt the one behind the wheel that day nor was she the one in the accident because the state road was unplowed?  Isnt that why those state highway workers get paid so much to plow those roads so things like this dont happen?  It is so Frustrating!!!

A picture of the car after the accident...very scary!!!

First Things First

So I have yet to introduce my wonderful husband into my blog...well really I havent hardly mentioned him since the first couple of posts.  So now is the time to introduce him in order to continue with my next post which is about him.  My husbands name is Manny and he is a wonderful man and I love him with all of my heart and I am very lucky to have found the one person in this world who completes me.  Well enough with the mushy, lovey, dovey, stuff.  Manny is a great guy.  He is a goofy guy and can be quite boring at times but I am convinced that is all men not just him.  He works third shift for the Massachusets DOC as a corrections officer and although his job is not all that difficult he does work hard in order to support me and the baby and I couldnt be more grateful for it.

Sorry For the Delay in Posting

It has been a couple of days since I have been on and written any posts.  I apologize for the delays in postings but life has been a little hectic the past couple of days.  My wonderful son has decided that his new bedtime is anywhere from 10 to 10:30 pm which makes for one tired Mommy at the end of the night.  Also I have bee suffering from some horrible seasonal allergies and I am going crazy.  I've tried Benadryl and all though that helps it knocks me out and I am left in a complete daze for the rest of the night and i've been livig off of tylenol allergy medicine and Im not even sure it is helping.  Im hoping things will start looking up soon so I can get back on here more often and get more posts up and more people visiting my site.

He Swims Like a Fish...Usually

Posted by Jenalyn at 8:08 PM 0 comments
So today kicked off the new session of swimming lessons at the Healthtrax Fitness Club http://www.healthtrax.com/Club/Scripts/Home/home.asp,  It has been two weeks since David has been in the pool and that was certainly obvious today.  He was not feeling the water at all.  Not only was the water near arctic temperatures but there was a new woman helping out his usual class instructor and David was not having that and was almost to the point of complete ignorance about it.  Apparently two weeks makes a difference to a one year old because he went from swimming on his own to crying through almost the whole half an hour.  Im keeping my fingers crossed that next week brings a little more cheer and a lot more splashing in the pool

Edaville USA

Posted by Jenalyn at 8:01 PM 0 comments
Geesh I feel like I havent written anything in forever when in reality I just didnt make it on the computer at all yesterday.  I decided to take David to Edaville USA in Carver, Ma yesterday for a storybook special event.  Curious George and Clifford were going to be there and they are his absolute favorites, especially George.  I sometimes feel like I eat, sleep, and breath Curious George but that is ok because he loves him.  Well anyway Edaville was a hit and we had a blast riding the rides and the train and especially playing in the ball pit.  However, David was quite frightened by the life size versions of his favorite television characters and screamed his cute little head off when we got close to them...it was quite funny if I do say so myself.  Anyway it was certainly a day to remember and an exhausting one at that but certainly worth seeing that smile on my Dugga Bear's face at the end of the day.  If you live in the Massachusetts area you should check out their website at http://www.edaville.com/ and plan a visit especially during the holiday season where they celebrate their festival of the lights.

Earning Some Extra Cash

Posted by Jenalyn at 8:35 PM 0 comments
So Ive decided try and earn some extra money for my family using my blog and have been reading an awful lot about ways in which to do so.  I must say I am somewhat overwhelmed by it all.  There are so many articles and so many websites and it is hard to tell which ones are for real and which ones are not.  I have started with Google Adsense content ads and so far I have earned some money but not enough to actually get any back but hopefully soon.  I am still learning the ropes of this whole blogging thing and the blogosphere network and everything else.  If there is anyone who can offer me any insight or help me with all of this or anyone who is a parent also trying to earn some extra money it would be greatly appreciated to hear from you.  I will blog more on this as I learn more about it in the days to come.

A New Recipe Idea From Cambell's Kitchen

Posted by Jenalyn at 10:27 AM 0 comments
So last night I decided to try something new for dinner and luckily it was a success, not only to the husband but the baby loved it as well.  I am always a little skeptical about making new dishes for dinner because I never know if they are gonna turn out right and then if they don't it is a whole meal gone to waste.  I thought I would share this recipe with everyone and I do recommend making it and I will definately be making it again.  It is quick and easy and taste delicious so if you are interested in trying a new chicken parm recipe check out this website: http://www.campbellkitchen.com/prego/SpecialtySiteRecipeDetail.aspx?recipeID=25940&c=1

Rain, Rain Go Away...Come Again Another Day!

Posted by Jenalyn at 11:07 AM 0 comments
What a crappy day today.  It is the kind of day that just makes you want to stay in bed all day and do nothing.  In fact that is what I have been doing most of the day.  Not to mention with this awful rainy weather comes a bad day for allergies and there is just not enough tylenol allergy in the world to make them go away.  On an up note though the baby is feeling like having a lazy day too and slept in this morning and is now having a nice, peaceful nap with daddy.  I love the peace and quiet and I am enjoying myself watching some television.  At least something good can come from a yucky day!!!

Happy Birthday Jillian!!!

I know it is a day late but yesterday was a very hectic day...you know the kind of day that you just wish there were a few more hours in it just to get things done.  I just want to wish my wonderful sister Jillian a very happy 27th birthday...Wow you are getting old lol.  Just kidding I love you and I hope you had a great birthday.

A New Kind of Family Game Night

Posted by Jenalyn at 7:55 PM 0 comments
When you think of a traditional family game night you think of picking a board game and sitting around the dinner table and playing it for a couple hours, not in my house.  In my house family game night is the rare time where we all get to sit down and play Rockband on the Wii.  We went to Toys R Us today to get a birthday present for my friend's daughter and we ended up leaving with a brand new Beatles for Rockband game and of course we rushed home to play it.  Come on now what is more fun than four adults sitting around the television, two playing guitar, one on the drums, and of course me on the vocals (singing horribly I might add).  Life doesn't get much better than this, especially in our house!!

A Doyle/Gobern Dinner Special

Posted by Jenalyn at 7:46 PM 0 comments
First off I should start by introducing you to Mama Dukes.  Her name is Dawn and she is quite the lady.  Those of you who know her know what I mean when I say that and those of you who don't will just have to read and learn as I mention her from time to time.  I don't want to come right out and say that she is clumsy but I will let you judge her for yourself (keep reading to see what I mean).  We decided to get McDonald's for dinner, something quick, easy to clean-up, and not too expensive...what more could you ask for?  Well apparently David was happy with the choice of a cheeseburger happy meal because he ate the WHOLE thing...my little piggy.  As we sat down to eat mom dropped a paper on the floor and leaned over to pick it up and smashed her rib cage into the arm of the dining room chair and we are almost certain she has broken a rib judging by the excruciating pain she has been in since.  Now I dont want to come right out and say where I get my clumsiness from but one could guess...

Some Days I Feel Like Cinderella...and Not In a Beautiful Princess Kind of Way

I always look forward to Wednesdays because that means the husband is home until Friday.  You would think that this would mean I get a little break but on the contrary it means I get to play catch up on everything that gets put off while he is at work or he is sleeping (he works third shift so sleeps all day).  Today I get to do more laundry and I suppose it is time to do some house cleaning...somethings you can only put off for so long.  Hopefully it wont take too long and I can get it all done while the munchkin naps. :)

Good Night and Sweet Dreams

Posted by Jenalyn at 9:29 PM 0 comments
Well the laundry is folded and put away but unfortunatley I didn't get to iron David's clothes.  O well tomorrow is another day.  Im tired now and hoping to get some sleep (providing the beast allows for it).  Sweet dreams to all :)

Laundry, Laundry, and More Laundry

Posted by Jenalyn at 7:37 PM 0 comments
Do you ever feel like no matter how much laundry you wash in a day there is ALWAYS more to do...and not just a little more but loads and loads more?  I use to like doing laundry. I found it relaxing to fold laundry but not since I am married to a man who wears clothes the size of a camping tent and have a toddler who is just a mess, I feel like I am drowning in a pool of endless dirty clothes.  I must say though that I love the smell of clean laundry especially when it is washed in Tide Total Care. It is definately my favorite detergent of all the Tides.  On that note it is off to more laundry and maybe if im lucky i'll get to do some ironing too (said with sarcasm).

Baby Kisses are the Best Kisses :)

Posted by Jenalyn at 7:10 PM 0 comments
So the baby slept much better than I thought he would which was great for me because that meant I got to sleep too.  As much as I love our middle of the night parties I enjoy sleeping a whole lot more.  I did have the best alarm clock to wake me up this morning.  David, who was put in bed with me around 5 am woke up at 7:40 this morning and then proceded to wake up Momma with a big wet kiss on the lips and when I opened my eyes he was about half an inch from my face with a GIANT ear to ear smile on his face.  Motherhood doesn't get any better than that!!!

The Sweet Sweet Sound of a Sleeping Baby

Posted by Jenalyn at 8:14 PM 0 comments
Im sitting here in bed...the husband is working the night shift as usual and it is finally the time of the night that I wait for everyday.  ME time!!!  The baby is sleeping soundly beside me and I can relax and watch some tv (Grey's Anatomy of course).  I swear I could watch that show all day everyday...Im a sucker for hospital drama's I guess.  As I sit here I am enjoying my quiet time and hoping or should I say praying that my lovely little David sleeps the night or at least later than 12:30 in the morning.  I really don't want another night of Curious George re-runs until 3 in the morning nor do I think my body can handle it but I guess it comes with the job of being the Mommy.  I mean don't get me wrong I love to hear the word "Mama" come out of that precious little mouth but these dark circles invading my face and making their home underneath my eyes are not doing me any justice.  Not to say that David is a bad sleeper because honestly he is not but some nights are certainly better than others and lately it has been teeth, tummy aches, and more teeth and mommy is certainly in need of some rest.  With that said im off for some cookies and milk and hopefully a decent nights sleep.  Good night everyone :)

Welcome to my blog!!!

Posted by Jenalyn at 9:29 PM 0 comments
So here I am finally writing and getting ready to post my first blog post...how very exciting.  It has only taking me a month of researching and planning to figure how and what exactly I wanted to do and im still not completely sure but im going to give it a shot anyway.

As mentioned in my profile I am a 24 year old stay at home mother to a beautiful little monster who I love with all of my heart but sometimes think he is part evil spawn.  Maybe it is his ability to outsmart me at every turn or it is that cute little dimpled smile he gives me when he does something he is not suppose, but either way im sure of the fact that he is a monster...but he is my monster and I wouldn't ask for anything more.  I also have a wonderful husband (well most of the time) and we have been married for almost two years now and he is truly the love of my life and I am certain we are soulmates because not too many men would put up with me the way that he does.
So I suppose I should let everyone know why I am starting a blog.  First off, I have decided it might be interesting to share my life and all of its craziness with those who are interested and also I figure blogging is a good way to learn from other mothers who are living their own chaotic lives.  Secondly, through my blog I would like to share with other mothers the things that I do and the things that I learn from being a first time parent as I venture upon this journey into raising a toddler.  I think as a mother and a wife I can offer some insight into how I deal with the craziness of everyday life while at the same time learning through other moms.  So only time will tell how well this whole blogging things works for me but until then sit back, grab a cup of coffee and a yummy treat, and enjoy the bumpy ride...
